Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to the contract between AK’s Home from Home Dog Retreat Chesterfield and the Owner.

 

General Conditions

No dogs registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 or hybrids under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 can be boarded.

 

The Owner’s Undertaking

Submission of a Booking Form confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions. Bookings are not confirmed until a 25% deposit has been paid.

 

Health & Vaccinations

Owners confirm their dog has not been exposed to rabies or distemper within 30 days and is fully vaccinated against:

A current vaccination certificate must be shown at or before the meet & greet.

 

Behaviour & Medical History

Owners must declare any behavioural or veterinary issues that may reoccur during boarding.

 

Neutering

All dogs must be neutered/spayed. Exceptions may be made for senior or medical cases. Only spayed bitches are accepted due to resident male dogs.

 

Microchipping

All dogs must be microchipped. Evidence may be required.

 

Information Accuracy

Owners must provide full and accurate information on the Booking Form and update AK’s of any changes.

 

Veterinary Care

AK’s may engage a veterinary surgeon if required. Owners are responsible for all veterinary fees.

Emergency contacts must be available in the UK during the owner’s holiday.

 

Illness or Injury

If a dog becomes unwell or injured, AK’s will take them to a vet. Owners agree to cover all fees.

 

Owner Liability

Owners indemnify AK’s against all costs or damages caused by their dog, including damage to property.

 

Aggression

Aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. Alternative arrangements will be made at the owner’s expense.

 

Collection & Equipment

Owners must collect their dog promptly and pay any outstanding charges.

Dogs must arrive with bedding, food, bowls, leads, harness, toys, etc.

 

Insufficient Food

If insufficient food is supplied, owners agree to reimburse AK’s for additional food purchased.

 

Breach of Terms

Any breach may result in the dog being placed in boarding kennels at the owner’s expense.

 

AK’s Undertaking

AK’s will take reasonable care of all dogs during their stay.

AK’s is insured but accepts no liability unless covered by their insurance policy.

 

Contacting Owners

AK’s will contact owners or emergency contacts immediately if issues arise.

 

Illness, Injury or Death

If a dog dies during boarding, remains will be stored at a veterinary centre until the owner returns.

 

Exercise & Walking

Dogs receive a minimum of 2 × 20‑minute walks per day or enrichment if walking is not possible.

Written permission is required to walk dogs outside the premises.

Dogs are never walked off‑lead.

 

Feeding Multiple Dogs

Written permission is required to feed multiple dogs from the same household together.

 

Vaccination Evidence

Owners must bring up‑to‑date medical records to every meet & greet and drop‑off.

 

 

Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellation within 21 or 14 days (depending on booking type) requires full payment of the outstanding balance.

Deposits are non‑refundable.

Refunds may be replaced with credit notes at AK’s discretion.

 

Charges & Payments

Day Care (8am–6pm)

Fixed charge. Full non‑refundable payment required at booking.

 

Overnight Boarding (1 night)

Full non‑refundable payment required at booking.

 

Overnight Boarding (2–6 nights)

25% deposit required. Full payment due 14 days before boarding.

 

Holiday Boarding (7+ nights)

25% deposit required. Full payment due 14 days before boarding.

Christmas/New Year bookings incur a 25% premium.

 

Early Drop‑off / Late Pick‑up

Additional fees apply. See price list.

 

Liability

Owners waive claims except those arising from AK’s negligence.

Owners are liable for damage caused by their dog.

 

ID Tags

Dogs will wear an AK’s ID tag during their stay.

 

Media Consent

Photos may be used on social media unless owners opt out in writing.

 

AK’s Cancellation

If AK’s must cancel, a full refund will be issued.

 

Failure to Collect

If a dog is not collected on the due date, AK’s may rehome the dog by reasonable means.

 

Repeat Booking Form

A repeat form must be completed before future bookings.

 

Safe Transport Guidelines

Dogs are transported securely in the boot or back seat with a harness.

Bank Holidays & Seasonal Rates

No extra charge for bank holidays. Christmas/New Year incur a 25% premium.

 

Food Requirements

Owners must bring their dog’s own food to avoid digestive upset.

 

Meet & Greet

A meet & greet is required for all new clients and must be successful.

 

Updates During Stay

Owners will receive updates and photos during their dog’s stay.

 

Social Media

Images may be used unless owners opt out in writing.

 

Dog Suitability

Only spayed bitches accepted. Dogs must be a suitable match for the home environment.

XL Bully and similar breeds cannot be boarded due to legislation.

 

Flea & Tick Policy

Dogs must be fully flea‑treated and checked before arrival. Dogs with fleas cannot be accepted.

 

Dogs Under One Year

Young dogs are welcome with appropriate training. No puppy pads used.
