Meet & Greet: What to Expect

Published:  6 July 2026

A Meet & Greet is the first step in helping your dog feel comfortable, confident, and relaxed before their boarding stay. It gives them a chance to explore, sniff around, and get a feel for the environment — and it gives us time to learn all about them too.

A Gentle Introduction to the House & Garden

When you arrive, your dog will be able to explore the garden and the house at their own pace. Sniffing is how dogs understand new places, so we let them take their time and get familiar with the sights, smells, and sounds.

Meeting Kane, Axel, and Any Guest Dogs

Once your dog has had a chance to sniff around, we’ll introduce them to Kane and Axel,  and any guest dogs currently staying with us. If your dog is booked in during a time when we already have another home boarding or day care dog, we’ll arrange the Meet & Greet while that dog is here too. This ensures everyone meets in a calm, controlled way and helps us understand how the dogs interact.

Meet & Greets Last Around 30–60 Minutes

Most Meet & Greets take between half an hour and an hour. This gives us plenty of time to discuss your dog’s routine, needs, quirks, and personality, while also allowing them to familiarise themselves with the surroundings and meet our dogs.

Our Dogs Love People

Kane and Axel are very affectionate and absolutely love humans. It’s not unusual for them to come over for a fuss, a kiss, or a cuddle. If they get a bit too enthusiastic, feel free to gently push them away. We do our best to discourage jumping, but we leave it to each owner to decide how much fuss and interaction they’re comfortable with.

Creating a Calm, Positive First Experience

The Meet & Greet is all about making your dog feel safe and welcomed. By letting them explore, meet the dogs, and get used to the environment, their first boarding stay becomes much easier and far less overwhelming.
